Hyperthermal water: a unique resource in the world

The waters are classified into 4 categories: cold waters, hypothermal waters, thermal waters and hyperthermal waters:

  • Cold water: emergence temperature below 20°C.
  • Hypothermal waters: emergence temperature between 20 and 30°C
  • Thermal waters: temperature between 30 and 40°C
  • Hyperthermal waters: emergence temperature above 40°C.

Thermalis® water is a hyperthermal water with a temperature at the source between 85 and 87°C

Let’s take a look at the history of Thermalis® hyperthermal water ? What are the characteristics of its source?

Thermalis® hyperthermal water comes from one of the deepest wells of the Euganean Thermal Basin®. The latter, together with Abano Terme, are considered the most important and oldest thermal spa in Europe. Its origins are very old: already in the 10th century B.C. the Euganeans and in the 8th century the Paleo-Venetians immersed themselves in the small lake and in the pools of water of the Aponense spring.

Why? They had the proof of the curative sacredness of the thermal waters of the God Apono – an important name that means: “that takes away the pain” – because these waters cured them of many diseases.

What do we know about the origins of the Euganean thermal waters?

The Euganean thermal waters come from the meteoric precipitations of the Little Dolomites massif. This precipitation penetrates to a depth of 3-4 km – exceeding even 170°C due to the geothermal gradient (rate of temperature increase in the subsoil as one moves away from the surface) – and becomes mineralized. These characteristics have made it possible to define water – according to the medical classification of Marotta and Sica – as Hyperthermal Salsobromoiodic rich in trace elements.

In this ranking, the territory has a fundamental importance. It is awarded thanks to three main factors that characterize its uniqueness and its marked therapeutic activity.

  • Temperature
  • Chemical composition
  • The fixed residue (at 180°C)

Why this hyperthermal water so rich in minerals and other beneficial substances? What are the benefits?

Hyperthermal water comes from hot springs after a long journey between rock and soil deep underground. On average, after about 25-30 years, the water rises rapidly and emerges in point or extensive springs with minimum temperatures of 45°C and maximum temperatures of 87°C.

During its journey, the water of the Euganean Thermal Basin is enriched by the elements it encounters on its way, such as the precious minerals extracted from the rocks, and it is thanks to this mineral richness that Thermalis® hyperthermal water becomes unique, and can be used for medical and cosmetic purposes to treat various ailments.

Hyperthermal water has anti-edema, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, soothing and keratolytic properties.

The presence of :

  • Iodine
  • Bromine
  • Magnesium
  • sodium chloride

gives hyperthermal water anti-inflammatory and disinfectant properties.

This allows Thermalis products to have a recognized therapeutic effectiveness.

Each of these substances provides specific benefits to the human body. For example, bromine has calming properties that reduce the excitability of the motor centers of the cerebral cortex, thus reducing the propagation of nervous stimuli. Iodine acts as an antiseptic on the skin and mucous membranes, which helps combat chronic inflammatory conditions. Sodium chloride is also important for maintaining acid-base balance and osmotic pressure in the body.

As for cosmetic benefits, the zinc in hyperthermal water promotes the production of elastin and collagen, which help improve the skin’s ability to heal and have an essential antioxidant and anti-aging effect. Manganese also protects the skin from free radical damage, while copper contributes to the overall health of the skin, giving it a younger, fresher and more rested appearance. In short, every element present in the water of the Euganéen Thermal Pool provides valuable health and beauty benefits.

A unique source of well-being with proven effectiveness

Thermalis® Hyperthermal Water instantly soothes the skin: from 30 seconds after application (test carried out over 4 weeks on volunteers, 70% of whom had sensitive skin)

For years, the R&D (research and development) department of Thermalis has been exploiting the potential of hyperthermal water for the composition of its products, without ever inserting chemical excipients (such as paraffin, petroleum jelly or glycerine) .
